Tuesday, Jan. 23 – The Rockbridge County High School girls basketball team earned a 60-55 road win in overtime against Valley District rival Harrisonburg on Tuesday night.
With the victory, their first district win of the season, the Wildcats (2-15 overall, 1-7 district) broke a nine-game losing streak and avenged a 51-37 Dec. 19 home loss to the Blue Streaks (6-10, 1-6).
In the rematch, Ruby Goodhart led the Wildcats with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Abby Bouchard added 12 points, and Emma Clark scored 10 points.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. when they play host to Salem in the 10th annual Rock the Ribbon Roundball Shootout, a 12-game event at RC on Friday and Saturday that raises funds for the American Cancer Society. RC’s junior varsity team will play host to Salem tomorrow, Wednesday, at 4:30 p.m.
