Glasgow Baptist Church lost another member this past week. Charlie Mac Wood passed away on Jan. 19 following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, just last September. The couple were longtime residents of Glasgow, but had moved in with their son and family in Lexington a couple of years ago.

We learned of the loss of another neighbor this past week, Leisa Yates. Several years ago a friend and I went on an overnight bus trip with Leisa’s church group. On the way home we stopped to eat and we sat at the same table and met for the first time, discovering that we actually lived a couple houses apart. She will be missed.

The Rev. Kevin Corey has been speaking at Glasgow Baptist Church for the past several Sundays. He has been accompanied by his wife, Becky. He will be filling the pulpit for a few more Sundays.

How many of your readers have a compost bin at your home for food scraps? Do you like the idea of making your own potting soil? I understand this may take a while, however. There is the possibility of such a bin coming to the Farmers Market lot this season. Watch for details.

Plans are continuing for the April 27 vendor event. Applications are being drawn up and can be picked up at Glasgow Town Hall, or call the manager, Carolyn Bradley, at (540) 570-0919, or email [email protected]. You may soon be able to click on a link on the Farmers Market Facebook site. There will be a $10 set up fee for this event. The 2024 regular market season will begin the weekend after this event. There will be a vendors meeting for the regular season sometime in April.
