Carnell Conner Moore Sr., 87, of Natural Bridge was welcomed into God’s arms on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Carnell Conner Moore Sr., 87, of Natural Bridge was welcomed into God’s arms on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of William Adam Moore and Mittie Conner Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Camden Moore.

He was a painter in the Lexington and Rockbridge County area for 50-plus years and attended Natural Bridge Baptist Church. Carnell also loved to hunt, trout fish and shoot pool. In his younger years, he and Nancy loved going to musical events, and in his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his children, Carnell Conner Moore Jr. (Jenny) and April Moore McElroy (Mike); three grandchildren, McKinley Moore Huger (Anderson Huger), Alexander McGinnis Perkins and Adleigh Mae McElroy.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Pastor Randy Smith. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Harrison Funeral Home.
