CHARLIE WOOD

Charlie Mac Wood, 85, of Glasgow peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Jan.19, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born Sept. 22, 1938, he was the son of Woodrow and Audrey Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Denise Wood, and two sisters, Mary Beth Tolley and Mitzi Paxton.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Margo Wood, as well as a daughter, Stacy Wood Bresko (John); son, Charlie Mac “Chris” Wood Jr. (Christine); grandchildren, Jillian, Kyle, Cameron, Cody and Darby, and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie retired from the Natural Bridge Learning Center where he held several different positions and formed many lifetime friendships. Charlie was also a long-time member of Glasgow Baptist Church.

Charlie was very involved in his community. For several years he was an avid member of the Rocket Club, coached little league teams, and was a member of the Buck Leslie Scholarship committee. Charlie and his wife, Shirley, were active in the AARP and enjoyed going on many of the sponsored trips with friends and family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Harrison Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeremy Kilgore.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington.
