Third Suspect In B&E Case Indicted

Burglary Led To BV Manhunt Last January

The third and final suspect in a breaking and entering case that resulted in a shelterin- place warning being issued for the city of Buena Vista during a manhunt last January was indicted by a Buena Vista grand jury last week.

Gregory Allen Kersey, 46, of Buena Vista, was indicted on two felony counts of burglary (breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny).

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Buena Vista Circuit Court on those charges on Friday, and on two misdemeanor charges: assault and battery and obstruction of justice. Kersey failed to appear in Buena Vista General District Court last July for a preliminary hearing and a capias warrant was issued for his arrest at that time.

The other two individuals who were charged in the same incident, Tytray Martin of Highland Springs and Dakota Camden of Roanoke, were indicted by a grand jury last July on two felony counts of burglary and one misdemeanor count of assault and battery apiece.

Martin pleaded not guilty to the charges and a trial was scheduled for Jan 25 and 26. Martin failed to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Jan. 5 and a capias warrant was issued that has not been executed. His attorney withdrew from the case and the scheduled trial was cancelled. Camden pleaded guilty to the charges last September and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 1. -The following individuals were also indicted by the Buena Vista grand jury on Jan. 24.

Calib Anthony Emerson, 28, for one count of credit card larceny and one count of credit card fraud between March 16 and May 24, 2023.

John William Key, 50, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on April 6, 2023.

John Travis Cash, 41, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on Sept. 4, 2023.

Rory Benjamin Ware Jr., 35, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) and one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (fentanyl) on April 4, 2023.

Corey Brian Persinger, 33, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on Oct. 26, 2023.

Michael William Southers, 54, for one count of assault and battery on a family member (third or subsequent offense) on Sept. 25, 2023.

Rachael Elizabeth Wimble, 34, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug on Sept. 4, 2023.

Henry Lewis Vance Jr., 55, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on Sept. 4, 2023.

Scott Paul Umbarger, 39, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug and one count of possession of a firearm while possessing a schedule I or II drug on Aug. 20, 2023.

Ashley Danielle Wheeler, 31, for one count of assault on a family member (third or subsequent offense) on Sept. 14, 2023.

Jarrod Graham Wallace, 34, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug, one count of abuse or neglect of a child (reckless disregard for safety) and one count of endangering a child while having custody on Aug. 27, 2023.

Paul Michael Thompson, 43, for one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle between June 29 and July 3, 2023.

Charles Allan Floyd Jr., 34, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on Sept. 6, 2023.

Dylan McKenzie Burks, 24, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (methamphetamine) on Nov. 8, 2023.

Angela Josephian Venezian, 44, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug (LSD), one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug with intent to distribute (cocaine) and one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug with intent to distribute (fentanyl) on Oct. 31, 2023.

Ian McShane Martin, 25, for one count of strangulation and one count of assault on a family member (third or subsequent offense) on Oct. 3, 2023, and one count of assault on a family member (third or subsequent offense) on Jan. 1, 2024.
