Sam Williams Featured In Program, Exhibit

One of those enslaved at Buffalo Forge as an iron maker will be the focus of a program and exhibit organized by the Rockbridge Regional Library Local History Center.

The center will present the free program “Bond of Faith: The Devotion of Sam Williams” on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lexington. The event will feature remarks by Dr. Charles Dew, author of “Bond of Iron,” and include presentations from several local history organizations and church choirs.

The Rockbridge Regional Library in Lexington will also host a two-week-long exhibition highlighting Williams’ life from Feb. 12 through Feb. 23. The display will be available at the program on Feb. 24.

The events will illustrate Williams’commitment to faith, family and work.
