A new community theater group in Glasgow is looking for actors for its first production.
The Thompson Community Center Theatre will present “Back to the Past” on March 2 at 2 p.m. in the Thompson Community Center at 207 Catawba St.
This play takes 13 children on an unforgettable adventure “back to the past” to meet famous, not-so-famous and great African Americans achievers. Bessie Smith, Marcus Garvey, and Matthew Henson are just a few who visit and teach the children about their beautiful past, said Maria E. McLellan Quillen of Lexington, the director.
The play is from the book “Positive African American Plays For Children, Book 1,” co-authored by Britt Ekland Miller and Jeffrey Bradley.
Children ages 9-14 are encouraged to try out for 13 roles in the play. Open auditions will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the community center.
Admission to the play will be free and reservations are not required.
