Rockbridge Regional Library in Lexington will host Leslie Chappell McLane, FBI fraud prevention community outreach specialist, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m., for an educational program titled “Spot that Scam! A Discussion about Online and Phone Scams Targeting Older Adults.”
An expert in cybersecurity and fraud prevention, McLane will talk about trends in ransomware and scams, with a focus on emerging trends and sophisticated tactics used by fraudsters to target older adults.
Attendees will learn how and where to report instances of fraud, a necessary step to ensure swift action against scammers and contribute to the collective effort in combating cybercrime. She will provide practical tips and strategies to fortify personal information against potential threats. From recognizing phishing attempts to securing online accounts, attendees will learn about actionable steps to enhance online safety.
