BV Seeks Donations For Pavilion Project

Buena Vista has begun the process of seeking donations for the upcoming project to construct a timber frame pavilion on the town square property.

Buena Vista has begun the process of seeking donations for the upcoming project to construct a timber frame pavilion on the town square property.

“All contributions, large or small, are appreciated and will go towards making this project a reality,” said Kristina Ramsey, the city’s economic development director.

“Additionally, she continued, “the city is seeking organizations and groups to contribute meals to fuel and energize volunteers during the build weekend.”

Those interested in donating can do so by visiting the project website, www.buenavistava. org/townsquare, or by contacting Ramsey at kristina. [email protected] or (540) 261-8616.

The city recently announced that it was partnering with the Timber Framers Guild and Virginia Military Institute to build the pavilion for the town square property in downtown Buena Vista.

“This exciting collaboration will jumpstart the project, which aims to create a welcoming and vibrant community space at the heart of downtown Buena Vista,” said Ramsey.

On April 5-9, local timber framers and seasoned professionals from across the country will construct a timber frame pavilion designed by VMI cadets at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and 21st Street.

“The pavilion build will align with Phase 1 of the town square project to complete a number of components of the recently completed design, which was designed to meet community needs and desires following public input sessions,” explained Ramsey. When fully complete, she said, downtown will have a gathering place for outdoor events, markets and activities so people of all ages can gather to enjoy the outdoors and everything that’s available downtown.

“We are excited about this partnership to kickoff this impactful project,” said Ramsey. “This partnership will help us to engage the community and realize our vision for a beautiful and functional community space that will benefit residents and visitors alike.”
