The Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team earned its 14th win in a row against Pioneer District opponent Bath County on Tuesday night in Buena Vista. The Blues tallied their highest scoring night on the season in the 86-55 victory. The Blues are now 15-3 on the year and 6-1 in district play.
The Blues started hot early on in the game with two three pointers from JJ Jones and another from Braedon Houck on their way to a 17-2 lead. The Blues finished the first quarter with a 35-9 lead.
Langston Cook and Landon Catlett extended the Blues lead to 44-9 in the first minute of the second quarter. PM’s Peyton Montgomery added two three pointers back-to-back midway through the second quarter. The Blues led at halftime 60-24.
With the score 70-30, Peyton Montgomery hit his third three pointer on the night and was followed by a Nathan Glass three pointer. The Blues led 81-37 at the end of the third.
The Blues played their reserves for the entirety of the fourth quarter, and closed out the win for an 86-55 win.
PM was led in scoring by J.J. Jones with 22. Brayden Holdren and Landon Catlett had fourteen points each.
PM will play host to Pioneer District opponent, Craig County, on Thursday night in Buena Vista, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game. Before the varsity game, the Blues will honor their three seniors: Catlett, Jones and Evan Cook.
