Carolyn Bradley, 258-2720
Glasgow Baptist Church received the sad news that the Rev. Kevin Corey, who has been guest speaker for several Sundays, was badly burned in a fire-pit explosion in his backyard in Northern Virginia, on Tuesday, Jan. 30. He received third-degree burns over 68 percent of his body and is currently a patient at the burn unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. His wife, Becky, also received burns on her hands while trying to smother the flames. She was treated and released. Please keep this family in your prayers in the next weeks and months.
The Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department held its annual awards and installation banquet last Saturday. The meal was catered by Kenney’s of Lexington (Effie Wallace). Guest speaker was John Jacobson of the Chesterfield Fire and EMS. Personnel from this organization came to Glasgow last year for training. A number of awards were handed out to various members, lots of door prizes were given away, and a new slate of officers for the coming year were installed by Nathan Ramsey. All awards were special, but two in particular need to be mentioned. For 60 full years with the department, life members J.C. Rice and the late Roger Bradley were presented with framed certificates. Bradley’s widow, Carolyn, was presented with his award.
