Dianne Taylor Darrell, 83, of Lexington died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital.
Born April 12, 1940, in Everett, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph William Taylor Jr. and Ruth Elizabeth Steed Taylor.
Dianne was a wonderful wife and mother who was adored by her grandchildren, who knew her as Gram. She had a great sense of style and was a skilled gardener and interior decorator. She loved playing Canasta with her girlfriends. Dianne was a devout member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry Darrell; children, Stephanie Darrell Clark and Jake Darrell (Susan); one brother, Bill Taylor (Janice); one sister, Therese Sammartino; grandchildren, Taylor Clark, Cameron Clark (Mika), Steed Clark, (Olivia), Luke Darrell (Kirsten), Logen Darrell, Kit Hodges and Artie Hodges; and one great-grandchild, John Michael Clark.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 7, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father J. Morton Biber officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA) or Rockbridge Christmas Baskets.
