The Buena Vista Police Department is seeking information regarding the whereabouts of two Buena Vista juveniles.
According to a Facebook post by the department last Wednesday afternoon, Pyper Wilhelm, a 16-years-old white female, wrote several notes to family members urging them not to worry and indicating that she had to leave. Wilhelm and Logan Gilbert, a 15-years-old white male, are believed to have run away together and have not been seen since the early morning of last Wednesday, Feb. 7. The two are thought to be traveling in a green 2017 Honda HRV bearing Virginia license plate: NAVYMD.
Both teens are described as having dirty blonde hair and green eyes. Wilhelm is five feet, five inches tall and Gilbert is six feet, two inches tall. Wilhelm has a nose piercing, a tattoo of a heart on her left wrist and a tattoo of three butterflies on the inside of her right ankle. They may be traveling with Wilhelm’s dog.
“Right now, there’s no indication that the kids have any mental health or medical issues that put them in danger,” Buena Vista Police Chief Wayne Handley told The NewsGazette last Wednesday. “We are concerned for their safety … but we expect a positive outcome.”
Anyone with information is being encouraged to call the Buena Vista Police Department at (540) 261-6171. A $5,000 reward has been offered for any information that leads to the teens’ safe return.
A candlelight vigil to offer prayers for the family and for Wilhelm and Gilbert is scheduled for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in Glen Maury Park.
