Several area schools were recognized in a recent U.S. News & World Report ranking of Virginia schools.
In Lexington, Waddell Elementary was ranked 52 out of 1,700 elementary schools in the state, while Lylburn Downing Middle was ranked 13 out of 1,000.
Buena Vista’s Parry McCluer Middle School ranked 64th in overall middle schools in the state.
These rankings were determined using U.S. Department of Education data on scores in state reading and math assessments.
