PETE WINES

William M. “Pete” Wines, 89, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Feb. 9, 2024.

He was born in Rockbridge County on Feb. 24, 1934, a son of Emmett W. Wines and Corine O. Wines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl “Dick” Wines and Edward “Monk” Wines, and nephews Michael “Mike” Wines and Scott “Porter” Wines.

Surviving are his sisters, Linda W. Moore (Jody) and Maxine W. Sorrells (Robert); sister-in-law, Alma C. Wines; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and greatnephews.

Some of Pete’s favorite pastimes included front porch sitting, attending the local stock markets, checking on his cows and spending time with his family. He loved his community and could be found at the Rockbridge Farmers Coop, Layne’s Country Store or Food Lion on any given day just to visit friends and neighbors.

Visitation was yesterday, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral was conducted immediately following visitation by Dorsey Hostetter. Burial followed at Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.
