The search for two young runaways from Buena Vista ended last Wednesday night as Pyper Wilhelm, 16, and Logan Gilbert, 15, were located safely in Knoxville, Tenn.
The teens, who had last been seen Feb. 7, were found around 5:30 in the evening on Feb. 14, the Buena Vista Police Department posted on its Facebook page last Thursday morning. They have been reunited with their parents, and are home safe.
Buena Vista Police Chief Wayne Handley told The News-Gazette Tuesday that investigators with the department are still following up on things and will be talking to Wilhelm and Gilbert in the coming days.
“We’re really more concerned about the well-being of the kids,” he said.
Also in the Facebook post, the department thanked “all those involved with helping to locate Logan and Pyper,” noting that “countless tips were provided by family, friends, and citizens, state-wide law enforcement agencies assisted with out-of-area follow- ups,” and adding “a special thank you to each and every one of our dispatchers [for] fielding and coordinating the myriad of calls originating out of Central Dispatch.”
