Pamela Kay Smith, Beloved Mother, Wife, Nana, and Selfless Soul Aug. 5, 1953 – Feb. 17, 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pamela “Kay” Smith, of Lexington, a cherished mother, devoted Nana, and a beacon of selflessness. Kay departed from this world on Feb. 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and many amazing memories.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Earl Wayne Smith; two children, Jason Sorrells and Amanda Cash and husband, Jeffery; grandson, Trenten Cash; a brother, Jimmy Holland and wife, Rosie; a sister, Kimberly Byers and husband Ronald Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jay” and Maxine Holland, and grandson Jaycob Sorrells.

Born Aug. 5, 1953, Kay possessed an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life; she never met a stranger and was devoted to her family. She loved meeting people while working at Valley Cinemas, where she started as an employee and eventually purchased and operated it for many years.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held on Feb. 26 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home. The family will receive friends there at 3 p.m. followed by a service at 4. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Ben Salem Church Schoolhouse. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Kay Smith to Ben Salem Church, 34 Ben Salem Lane, Buena Vista, Virginia 24416, or the Rockbridge County SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

In the wake of Kay’s passing, let us take solace in the memories we shared and find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in our hearts forevermore.

Rest in peace, Mom. You have touched our lives in profound ways. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
