Feb. 27, 1974

Washington and Lee University senior John Paul Woodley was the first to file his candidacy for one of the three open seats on Lexington City Council. - Concerned parents, bus drivers and school personnel were invited to attend an open meeting on county school bus discipline.

- The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors created an energy board to handle requests from county residents for additional allocations and to assess the needs of the county.

Crews from DHS Piping & Fabrication in Buena Vista took down the historic Blue Ridge Tea Room building in Glasgow. - Residents came out in force to a meeting of the Lexington Planning Commission in opposition of a proposed medical office building on Houston Street. - The mother of a diabetic child urged the Rockbridge County School Board to fund a school nurse and six nurses aides to take the burden off teachers with children medical problems in their classes.
