Zachary Clements drives a delivery truck and likes to buy scratchers at different stores.
When he stopped at Sheltman’s Gas N Grocery at 124 E. 29th St. in Buena Vista, he decided to buy a Ca$h Corners Crossword scratcher. The Buena Vista man threw the ticket on the seat of his truck and forgot about it. When he finally scratched it, he learned that ticket was worth $100,000.
“I was pretty excited,” he later told Virginia Lottery officials. Ca$h Corners Crossword is one of dozens of scratcher games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 up to that $100,000 top prize. This is the first top prize claimed in the game, which means five more top prizes remain unclaimed. The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,224,000. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.01.
Clements owns his own business and plans to invest his winnings in the business.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Clements lives in Buena Vista, which received more than $900,000 in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
