A Wawa convenience store is planned for the north side of U.S. 60, just east of Lexington, between the Goodwill Store and the business complex that includes Foothill Mama’s Barbecue restaurant.
A review of the Wawa plans will be conducted today, Wednesday, March 6, by the Rockbridge County Tourism Corridor Overlay Board. The meeting gets underway at 4 p.m. in the county administration building.
Provco Pinegood Management LLC has submitted plans for the construction of a 5,915-square-foot convenience store and a gas canopy with six dispensers and eight electric vehicle charging stations. The site, .13-of-a-mile east of Quarry Lane, is owned by Medusa Properties Inc.
Also on the TCO’s agenda today is a review of plans for a Circle K convenience store, quick service restaurant and gas station that are to be developed on the west side of U.S. 11 at Timber Ridge. The development is to occur in front of the Days Inn Motel, which is located just off of Interstate 81’s Exit 195 interchange. An existing structure (formerly an Aunt Sarah’s and more recently a Muchacho Alegre restaurant) is to be razed.
The plans being presented are for a 5,375-squarefoot store and a gas canopy with four dispensers. The proposed access to the property will share the existing entrance to the Days Inn. Russ Orrison of Perkins and Orrison will be presenting the plans on behalf of owner Shri Sairam Inc.
A 7-Eleven and BP Gas Station were previously planned for this location. Those plans never materialized and were replaced by these latest plans.
