Just Desserts A Sweet Success

The Lexington Woman’s Club hosted its third annual Just Desserts event on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Virginia Horse Center.

The event was a success with approximately 150 attendees and 15 local bakers showcasing their fantastic culinary skills.

Charged with the most difficult task were three “celebrity judges”: Tasha Walsh of Connections Plus Healthcare + Hospice, Michelle Watkins of Rockbridge Area Transportation Services, and Judy Castelle of Project Horizon.

“They did a fantastic job judging the event,” said a club spokeswoman.

The winners of the Just Dessert event were as follows: The Judges Choice awards went to Del-Licious Treats by Deloris, third place; CHEFS Catering Company, second place; and Chef Xavier of the Georges, first place.

The Peoples Choice award winner was Washington and Lee Dining Services.

The club would like to also thank Nathan Bailey of Great Valley Farm Brewery & Winery for assisting with supplying wine for the event this year. “We would also like to give a big thanks to Matt Crookshanks and his team at the Virginia Horse Center for providing a wonderful space for the event,” said the spokeswoman.
