Police Chief Angela Greene recently announced the members of the new Police Chief’s Advisory Board. Four of these board members are returning for an additional year and the other seven board members will serve through the end of 2025.
This advisory board was initially formed in 2022, with members serving two-year terms. This is the second installation of board members.
The board assists the Lexington Police Department by focusing on contemporary challenges affecting the community and LPD. The board assists the chief with community input and recommendations on topics such as police-community relations, public awareness of services and programs, community policing initiatives, racial equity issues, use of force, mental health response, criminal activity and trends, and transparency in operations.
Board members were selected for their diversity of thought and veracity to partner with the police department in an effort to positively enhance the quality of life for all individuals within the city of Lexington, Greene said.
The board members listed below are representatives from a cross section of community activists, marginalized communities, special needs groups, faith leaders, business owners, media representation, and collegiate representatives from Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute.
The members include the Rev. Tuck Bowerfind, Stewart Green, William Hinely, Ann Hopkins, Emily King, Maurice Littlefield, John Morman, Chuck Newhouse, David Passmore, Larry Wiese and Andy Wong.
The new advisory board’s first meeting was held March 5.
