The Rockbridge County High School boys lacrosse team kicked off the spring season with a 13-5 road loss to Albemarle on Thursday.
Jack Jensen recorded 16 saves in goal for the Wildcats. Grayden Brown and Quincy Speers tallied two goals apiece, and Brady Cauley posted the other RC marker.
First-year head coach Jay Whitelock said that his team had “lots of areas for improvement” following its first regularseason game. He went on to describe Jensen’s play in goal as a “bright spot.”
The Wildcats finished 9-7 overall in 2023, beating Jefferson Forest 9-3 in the Region 4D quarterfinals before falling to top seed Cave Spring 11-5 in the semifinal round. Whitelock, 70, replaces Robert Hull, who coached the team for the previous five seasons before stepping down.
RC was scheduled to play host to Western Albemarle last night and will welcome in E.G. Glass on Thursday starting with the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m.
