The sound of construction and the sight of bustling activity can already be heard and seen as Buena Vista kicks off its “Town Square” project.
With the pavilion build project scheduled for April 5-9, preparatory work at the downtown site is underway and the farmers market has been temporarily relocated to Camden Field.
The raising of the pavilion will be undertaken by the Mullen family and the local timber frame group. They bring over 100 seasoned artisans together each year, in collaboration with the local community, to construct a timber frame structure somewhere in the Rockbridge area to promote community engagement and create a lasting impact.
Their project in Buena Vista this year marks a significant milestone in the Buena Vista community’s efforts to foster a sense of unity and enhance public spaces, say city leaders.
“We are thrilled that construction for the Town Square project is underway,” said Mayor Tyson Cooper. “This project exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and community pride that defines Buena Vista and is a physical reminder of what we can achieve when we work together toward a common purpose.”
While construction is underway, there are numerous opportunities for community members to get involved and support the project. Whether it’s donating snacks to fuel the hardworking volunteers, contributing a meal, or providing financial support, every contribution makes a difference, say city leaders. Additionally, volunteers are always welcome to lend a hand during the build weekend and beyond.
