FRANKLIN RHODES

FRANKLIN RHODES

Franklin Delano Rhodes, 86, of Natural Bridge Station passed away peacefully March 25, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born June 28, 1937, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Claude Woodson and Teresa McKenny Rhodes.

Franklin retired from Burlington Industries and attended the Arnolds Valley Southern Baptist Church.

He was the best pop paw and husband. He had a passion for spending time outdoors even if it was just tinkering around the yard or fixing an old tractor. He believed in helping others. He was a man who wore many hats and held many titles throughout his life. He met everyone with an open heart and a big smile, always quick to find the good in those around him. To his neighbors and friends, he was like a good Samaritan, always willing to lend a hand. He loved and adored his grandchildren. He was a kind and loving husband.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathy Rhodes; his children, Alicia Pietras, Sondra Duncan, Amhelia McCracken (Michael) and Thomas Callier (special daughter-in-law Tabathe); his sister, Marion Garret; many nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dallas, Joey, Noah, Ireland, Tristan, Olivia, Lauralie and Stella.

We say goodbye to a loving husband, father, world’s greatest grandfather, brother and friend. His kindness, wisdom, and grace touched the hearts of all who knew him. His spirit will live on in all the hearts who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Arnolds Valley Southern Baptist Church on Saturday, April 13, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Stine officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice.
