April 3, 1974

A two-year program to mark the American Bicentennial was announced by Washington and Lee University to involve both an on-campus archeological study and loan exhibitions at major museums and galleries throughout the country. - Construction of city-owned tennis courts was a high priority item among the improvements in city recreation facilities suggested by the Lexington Recreation Advisory Commission. -A trio of motorcycle-themed movies played at Buena Vista’s drive-in. They were “Hell’s Angels ’69,” “Hell’s Angels on Wheels” and “Devil’s Angels.”

April 7, 2004

The manager of the Lexington Stop-in recognized a shopper in her store as being one of the individuals whose pictures appeared in The News-Gazette, leading to the arrest of a man who stole 34 cartons of cigarettes from the Fairfield Shell. - After 12 weeks of extensive training, a rottweiler named Zanto joined the Sheriff’s Department.

-A group of over 180 cadets played host to nearly 400 special needs Virginia athletes during the second annual Virginia Military Institute games.
