Airport Study Supported By City IDA, Goshen

Lexington’s Industrial Development Authority unanimously approved funding for the city’s contribution to a feasibility study for a general aviation airport within Rockbridge County.

Lexington City Manager Jim Halasz brought the proposal to the IDA at its meeting on Monday as a recommendation that the organization fund the city’s portion of the local contribution in the amount of $8,606.

IDA Vice Chair Felicia DiPronio Bush moved to approve the funding for the study, with Liz Ramsey providing the second. The motion passed in a 5-0 vote, with IDA member Bill King absent.

The feasibility study also received unanimous support from the town of Goshen.

Town Council voted in favor of a resolution in support of the study at its regular meeting on April 2. Vice Mayor Steve Bickley made the motion to approve the resolution, and Derrick Ogden provided the second.
