On Saturday, April 13, the Effinger community’s Rise Against Hunger meal packing day will be held at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department. The day’s goal is to pack 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger to distribute worldwide.

Forty to 50 volunteers are needed for setup and cleanup of work stations and for the packing of meals for shipment. Those available to help set up should be at the firehouse at 8 a.m. Those assisting in meal packing need to be on site at 8:45 for instructions. Packing will start at 9 and conclude by 11:30. A hot dog lunch will follow the event for all to enjoy.

The event is being sponsored by the Effinger and Buffalo community churches with support from other organizations and churches in Lexington and Rockbridge County. To volunteer or request more information, call Pastor Bill Bearden at (540) 480-9685.

The Collierstown United Methodist Church would like to thank all who supported the baked potato/ chili/salad bar dinner at the church on Saturday, April 6. Proceeds from the meal will be used to support various mission projects.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Women will hold their quarterly meeting on Thursday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The PW’s women’s ministry plans for the spring and summer months will be discussed.

The Collierstown United Methodist men will hold their monthly men’s breakfast on Saturday, April 27, at 9 a.m. at the church.

On Sunday, April 28, the Collierstown United Methodist Charge will hold a joint worship service of music and song at the Collierstown United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Guest musicians will be the Crestmen of Staunton. All are welcome to attend and participate in the worship hour.
