Louise Dooley was appointed curator of the Stonewall Jackson House succeeding Alice Davidson. - The Lexington City School Board heard a proposal for a program at Lexington High School that would allow LHS students to take college level classes for credit. - Glasgow Mayor J.D. Panell received a letter from 6th District Rep. M. Caldwell Butler announcing his approval of the removal of the dam at Balcony Falls.

A revision of Virginia Military Institute’s facilities master plan called for razing Lejeune Hall to make way for an expansion of the barracks.

-An evening fire destroyed the home of Thomas and Becky Blankenship on Irish Creek Road. This was the second house fire in this remote area in just a month’s time. - More than 175 attended the 28th a nnual E ffinger S chool Homecoming.
