Kendal at Lexington is celebrating Earth Week with two events that highlight the community’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
On Sunday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m., the community is invited to Kendal Hall for a viewing of “Mosaic for Earth.” This hour-and-a-quarterlong work for chorus, orchestra, soloist and video accompaniment celebrates the wonders of nature while exploring humanity’s impact on the environment and our collective responsibility towards it.
Continuing the Earth Week festivities, Kendal at Lexington will host an Earth Week Forum on Thursday, April 25, at 4 p.m. in Kendal Hall. Amber Ellis and Ashleigh Moody from the James River Association will provide updates on efforts to enhance water quality within the James River watershed, which includes the Maury River — the source of Kendal’s water supply.
Attendees will also learn about the Sustainability Committee’s ongoing initiatives, including the 2024 summer peak use reduction plan, the LED light bulb replacement program, Kendal’s revised recycling guidelines, and tips on staying informed about climate news.
“At Kendal at Lexington, we take sustainability seriously, and Earth Week is an important opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to environmental conservation,” said Erica Turman, director of marketing at Kendal at Lexington. “We invite everyone to join us for these special events as we celebrate our planet and explore ways to protect it for future generations.”
Admission to both events is free.
