Residents of the Collierstown and Buffalo communities came out to the Effinger firehouse Saturday to pack over
7,500 meals to be distributed by the Rise Against Hunger program to people with food needs around the globe. The area churches had actually raised enough money to create about 10,000 meals, but a shortage of rice available that day meant that the remaining meals were to be assembled at the group’s headquarters later. Among those participating Saturday were (above left) Francis Ruley, (above right) Lewis Straub and his grandson Henry Straub, and (at right) Rusty Lee with RiseAgainst Hunger and Bob Lesher.
