Faith Baptist Church will be having a men’s prayer breakfast this morning at 8. A song and praise service will be this Sunday, April 28, at 6 p.m.

Many thanks to Dave VanOsten for leading a morning prayer service at St. John’s Episcopal Church this past week and to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music. Thanks, also, to Courtney VanOsten for hosting coffee hour this week.

On April 20, a surprise anniversary party was held at the Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department for Ronald and Thelma Williams of Concord, N.C., formerly of Arnolds Valley and Buena Vista, to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. The event was hosted by their children, Amy Ross and husband Larry, and Kevin Williams and daughter April Williams. Numerous family members and friends from Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland attended the event.

Thunder BRidge Campground in Arnolds Valley will be the start and finish line for the Wormhole 100/50K Mountain Bike Race this Saturday, April 27. Hosted by MMG Endurance Sports, bikers will have up to 12 hours to complete the 100K race - 68 miles of challenging terrain along Cornelius Creek, Pine Ridge, Little Cove Mountain, Chestnut Mountain, the Glenwood Horse Trail and the mysterious Wormhole. A 50K option will also be run and bikers will have up to 10 hours to complete that course. The event kicks off at 7 a.m.
