High Bridge

This week High Bridge Presbyterian Church welcomed the Rev. Steve Willis back from vacation. During the service, the congregation sang “Happy Birthday” to Audrey Armentrout for her 94th birthday. Visiting this week’s service was Lisa Leighton Vaudahaak of Costa Rica. Lisa is the daughter of the late William “Bill” Leighton of Stoner Holler. Lisa is visiting family and friends while in the area.

The Presbyterian Women of the Peaks Spring Gathering will meet Saturday, April 27, at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. The program will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The Presbyterian Women’s coordinating team will meet May 4 after church with Moderator Carol Tolley leading the meeting.

The youths are planning an ice-skating trip to Lancerlot on April 28 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Joe Hawes will lead small group Bible study on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. The planned subject is taken from Revelations, chapters 20-21. Light refreshments will be served.

Happy anniversary to two couples in Stoner Hollow for their 64th wedding anniversaries ‒ Wayne Lee and Annette Hickman and Lloyd and Esther Pennington.

High Bridge sends sympathies to Helen Cash and her family for the sudden passing of her son, Daryl Cash.

High Bridge Church has started a ‘”food for the month” program to collect items for the pantry. This month the requested item is cooking oil. The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will be open on Saturday, April 27, from 9 to 11 a.m.
