The Lexington Fire Department responded to a fire in Washington and Lee University’s Reid Hall Wednesday night.
The fire began in a lighting fixture on the third floor and was largely contained by the building’s sprinkler system, according to a post by the fire department.
Dispatched at 1:13 a.m., Lexington crews put out the fire and turned off the sprinkler system to limit water damage to the building.
At 2:05 a.m., the fire was determined to be “under-control” and firefighters remained on the scene until 3:40 a.m.
The building was unoccupied when the fire started, and no injuries were reported from the incident.
