Rockbridge Area Master Gardener Peggy Agnor helps second-graders plant lettuce from seed in the Roots and Shoots Garden at Harrington Waddell Elementary School last month. Volunteers from the community regularly assist students with lessons that use the garden as a living laboratory to teach science, math, engineering, art and technology concepts.
