The Valley of Virginia Herb Guild will host its 23rd herb sale on Saturday, May 4, from 8:30 am until noon on Hopkins Green in Lexington.
Select, locally raised herbs, prized for culinary use, aromatics, and medicinal properties have been readied for spring planting. Members of the Guild will be on hand to answer questions and advise on best practices for herb care and use.
In addition to the array of herbs, a Garden Flea Market table will offer useful tools, garden books, and decorative pots for bargain purchase. The Guild will also raffle an herb filled container created by VVHG members.
At Saturday’s sale, gardeners may choose new and old favorites from among a variety of herbal seedlings, perhaps aided by some new tools, garden references and growing tips from the Herb Guild.
Only cash or personal check will be accepted for payment. Parking is available in town lots and on the street.
The Valley of Virginia Herb Guild, founded in 1994, educates members and the community about the benefits of raising herbs. Proceeds from the sale help fund local programs, broaden community education, and tend the VVHG demonstration herb garden on Varner Lane, across from the Lexington Visitor Center.
