The student leadership team of Food for Thought, the student- led, nonprofit food pantry operating at Rockbridge County High School, will give a public presentation on the program this Thursday, May 2, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at 2 S. Main St. (the old courthouse).
Those attending can learn more about the pantry’s mission and the work of the five student interns who run its day-to-day operations.
Food for Thought, which is affiliated with the RCHS Parent-Teacher-Student Association, works to fight food insecurity in the RCHS community, while protecting the anonymity of the students and families they serve as best they can.
The pantry has been operational since October 2023 and has seen great successes, distributing over 2,000 meals in less than a year and a half of operations, using both an emergency daily distribution and a monthly drive-thru distribution models.
Interested parties who can’t attend the presentation can get more information, schedule a talk with an intern, or make a donation by emailing [email protected] or calling the high school at (540) 463-5555 and leaving a message for Food for Thought.
