The Wildcats upset Spotswood (6-5-2, 5-4-0) with a 1-0 win on Friday in Lexington.

With the win, the Wildcats avenged a 9-1 road loss to Spotswood on April 19.

Midway through the first half of the rematch, Perlozzo made her 300th career save and received the ceremonial game ball. For the game, Perlozzo made 18 saves.

After a scoreless first half, RC’s Emily Boling scored the only goal of the game in the second half on an assist from Lydia Kendall.

Proud of his team’s performance last week, RC head coach Danny Wheeler said, “The team collided with significant challenges and proved respectfully what they are capable of achieving. Individuals performed at their greatest capacity to date.”

“This group is experiencing confidence in their abilities and team unity,” added Wheeler. “This is a gritty group of girls who continue to push for outstanding performance.”

The Wildcats were scheduled to play at Turner Ashby last night and will continue district action today, Wednesday, when they play host to TA. They’ll travel to Stanardsville to face William Monroe on Friday before playing at Broadway on Tuesday. All three nights will start with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m.
