The Parry McCluer High School baseball team won three of four games last week and clinched the Pioneer District regular-season title.
The Fighting Blues (11-5 overall, 8-1 district) started the week by coasting to an 11-1 home win in six innings over district rival Highland County.
With the win, PM completed a sweep of the regular-season series with the Rams. When the teams met on April 25 at Highland, PM also won 11-1.
PM racked up 10 hits while Highland had three. Aaron Pruett led the Blues with three hits. Tanner Coleman, Aaron Pruett and Jackson Brockenbrough added two hits each.
Peyton Ramsey pitched the first five innings for PM, striking out five. Coleman pitched one inning of relief, striking out one and surrendering one hit, two walks and one earned run.
PM 13, BC 1
The Blues captured a 13-1 road win in five innings over district rival Bath County on Tuesday of last week.
With the win, PM completed a sweep of the regular-season series with the Chargers. When the teams met on April 9 in Buena Vista, PM won 10-0.
In the rematch, PM erupted for seven runs in the first inning and added six in the fourth, limiting the Chargers to one run in the fifth before the game ended early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
The Blues recorded 12 hits, while Bath had three. Leading PM with two hits each were Pruett, Braedyn Houck and Tyler Wade.
Aidan St. Clair led the Chargers with two hits.
Wade pitched all five innings, striking out 12 while allowing three hits, one walk and one unearned run.
Bath committed six errors, while PM had one.
PM 12, CC 1
The Blues clinched the regular- season district title by cruising to a 12-1 win in five innings over Craig County.
When the teams met on April 17, PM won 12-9.
In the rematch, Houck pitched all five innings and threw a onehitter, striking out 11 and allowing no walks and one unearned run.
PM racked up 10 hits, led by Ramsey with three and Pruett and Jase Barger with two each.
The Blues recorded three errors while Craig had two.
NC 8, PM 2
PM suffered an 8-2 home loss to Nelson County on Friday.
When the teams met in the season opener on March 11 in Lovingston, the Governors won 14-4.
In the rematch, the Governors led 3-2 after three innings, added a run in the fourth, and pulled away by scoring four runs in the final two innings.
PM recorded eight hits, while Nelson had seven. Barger led the Blues with two hits, while Brody Clements paced the Governors with two.
Nelson capitalized on five PM errors, while the Governors had one error.
The Governors’ two pitchers, Caleb Thompson and Sawyer Jackson, combined to throw six strikeouts.
Today, Wednesday, the Blues will conclude the regular season when they play at Rockbridge County at 5 p.m.
