The Lexington Road and River Relay returned for its 47th year on Saturday morning, welcomed 37 teams, including 12 one-person teams. Participants endured the rain during the 3.5-mile run before it let up. The Lambda Jedi Team won the relay, finishing the 16.1mile run/bicycle/river/run course in 1 hour, 30 minutes, 57.55 seconds. Running the 1.3-mile anchor leg for the Lambda Jedi Team, starting and ending at Jordans Point, was Colin Verrett (bottom right, No. 4). Placing second overall and winning the men’s individual title was Tyler Ludtke (second row from bottom right, No. 79), finishing in 1:34:37.12. The relay consisted of a 3.5-mile run from the Rockbridge Regional Library to Beans Bottom, a 9.1-mile bicycle ride starting and ending at Beans Bottom, a 2.2-mile river section from Beans Bottom to Jordans Point, and the 1.3-mile run.
