What a difference a day makes! The official first weekend of the Farmers Market saw beautiful weather on Friday with five vendors, including a food vendor with barbecue sandwiches and free hot dogs. Then came Saturday – five vendors, but with three different ones. The weather was cold, chilly and rainy. Its Virginia folks … if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute!

The vendors enjoyed a nice time with a few customers braving the elements and checking out the products. The main request they get every year is, “Do you have tomatoes?” No, it’s too early in the season for local produce. That will come in a few weeks.

They do have baked goods, packaged foods, seasonings, craft and artwork. They also plan to have prepared foods on Fridays and maybe on Saturdays, when the vendors are available. Speaking of that, the barbecue and hot dogs will not be available this Friday, and barbecue will not be available on Saturday due to a previous commitments.

The market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. Stop by and check out what is being offered each day.

Glasgow Baptist Church will begin this week having prayer meetings and Bible studies on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:30, and again on Friday mornings beginning at 10. Plans are also in the works to start using the church van for transportation to and from church services and activities.
