The Buena Vista Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the murder of Carl Agnor on April 23.
Margaret Mary Wright, 44, of Buena Vista, was charged last week with one count of second-degree murder and is currently being held without bond at Rockbridge Regional Jail. A preliminary hearing for the charge is scheduled for June 6 in Buena Vista District Court.
BVPD Police Chief Wayne Handley told The News-Gazette following Wright’s arrest that there was no evidence pointing to any other suspects in this case.
Handley also explained that Agnor was found by his son, who doesn’t live in the area but had driven to Buena Vista to check on his father after failing to get in touch with him during the day. Around 11:30 p.m. on April 23, police and emergency services responded to a 911 call to Agnor’s house on the 1900 block of Hawthorne Street. Agnor, who had been stabbed multiple times, was pronounced dead at the scene.
