Parry McCluer Teams Advance

Both the Parry McCluer High School baseball and softball teams advanced to the Pioneer District finals by winning their semifinal games at home on Monday evening in Buena Vista. The PM baseball team defeated Craig County 11-2, and the Blues cruised to a 19-0 win in five innings over Narrows in softball.

Earlier in the day, PM senior Addisen Roberts won the Pioneer District singles title by defeating Raigen Clark of Narrows by a score of 8-0.

In the baseball game, Tyler Wade pitched a complete game for the top-seeded Fighting Blues (13-5 overall, 9-1 district), striking out six while allowing six hits, three walks and two earned runs.

On the softball diamond, the top-seeded Fighting Blues (9-7, 6-1) drew 15 walks and had a 13-run third inning.

Freshman Kendall Painter led PM with two hits, including a triple.

On the mound, junior Alysa Wheeler pitched all five innings for the Blues, striking out one and allowing three hits and no walks.

The PM girls tennis team was scheduled to play host to Narrows in the district semifinals yesterday.

The PM baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play host to the district finals next Monday, May 20, with the baseball team playing Narrows and the softball team facing Eastern Montgomery, with the game time to be announced.
