Devan Brooke West was called home Jan. 30, 2023, at the age of 43.

Devan Brooke West was called home Jan. 30, 2023, at the age of 43.

She was born July 25, 1979, in Lexington. Devan was the daughter of Clarence Bo Floyd and Alma McCormick Shaw.

In addition to her mother, Devan was preceded in death by her stepfather, Dennis Shaw; maternal grandparents William Baxter and Janis Mc-Cormick; and cousin Kelly Chittum.

Left to cherish her memory are her father, Clarence Bo Floyd; daughter Jodi Lynn Montgomery (Jason); sisters Nancy Brown and Felicia Moore; brothers Beau and Derrick Floyd; aunts Barbara (Bobby) McCoy, Sharon Patterson (David), and Debbie Ramsey (Mitch); uncles Kevin Wilhelm and Larry Shaw; cousins Melinda McCoy, Scott McCoy (Stephanie), Taylor Walker (Jonathan), Donnie Plogger (Lisa) and Felicia Thompson (Bryan); grandchildren Jayden, Ashlyn, Anna and Aubree; nieces Kierra Brown, Alona Brown, Lindsay Moore and Julie Moore; and nephew Bishop Mackey.

In her life, Devan never met a stranger and she also leaves behind special friends, including Bubby Marshall, Jeremy Losh, Amber Marshall, Melissa Wheeler, Margo Giles, Raymond Morris, Melissa (Red) Morris and Sunshine Hall. Devan had numerous other friends. Devan was also known as MamaD to Kristin Morris.

Devan graduated Rockbridge County High School in 1997 and went on to Virginia Western Community College. She became a CNA and cared for many people throughout her life. Devan liked to live life spur of the moment, especially if it involved going to the beach with no plans or a late night road trip.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dean Staton.
