Program Open To Local High School Students
Mountain Gateway Community College has announced the opening of registration for the fall classes for its MG-TEC IT Academy.
Through the program, area high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can earn community college credentials and industryleading certifications in Information Technology (IT). The Virginia Department of Education officially approved plans for the program in late March.
MG-TEC IT Academy offers three pathways, including cybersecurity, Cloud computing, and IT technical support. Students can take classes on campus with HyFlex attendance available through Zoom or asynchronously for those who cannot come to campus. The program is designed to provide students with hands-on training, equipping them with the necessary skills to pursue a career in the IT industry.
Upon completing their chosen pathway, students will receive an industry-recognized certificate, putting them on the fast track to a career in IT right out of high school. With the demand for IT professionals on the rise, students who complete this program will have a competitive edge in the job market, said a spokesperson.
