Visiting Ophelia Payne for Mother’s Day were her sons, Bill Payne of Laurel, Md., and Clifford Payne of Coventry, R.I.; daughter Karen Payne of Roanoke, with her children, Erin Payne and Miles Rose and her grandchildren, Noah and Josiah. Ms. Payne’s granddaughter, Sydney Nowlin of Fredericksburg, was also a visitor, as well as her great-granddaughter Kendis Clark, her husband Jaylen Clark; Avery, Madison and Cooper Clark of Vinton; and Aleathia Jones of Roanoke.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Morrison were Marlena Morrison of Sterling and Randall, Maya, Nora and Nahuatl Morrison, also of Sterling. Melvin and Karen will celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary on May 30.
Visiting Bea Johnson and Margo Kyle were their children, Lori J. and Laurence Kyle of Hampton, Ga.
Visiting Priscilla Baker were her daughter and her husband, Marlene and Stephen Mitzel of Dover, Pa., and grandson, Brandon Hope of Frederick, Md.
Visiting Francine Carter for her 70th birthday and Mother’s Day were her daughter, Courtney Tate Collins of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Priscilla Stokes of East Orange, N.J.; Latisha Stokes of Raleigh, N.C.; and Darryl, Trena and Aiden Moore of Upper Marlboro, Md.
Graduating from Rockbridge County High School will be Tristan Brown, son of Thomas and Kelly Brown; Jada Henderson, daughter of Alicia Henderson and Lamar Poindexter; and Yasmine Henderson, daughter of Dennis Henderson Jr. and Shianh Henderson.
Graduating at Parry McCluer High School will be JJ Jones, the son of Caroline Husaw and William Jones.
Asbury United Methodist Church will celebrate its 155th anniversary on May 26 at 1 p.m. A fellowship meal will be served after the service. Reginald A. Early is the pastor. The church is located at 31 Academy Alley, Brownsburg.
