Senior Cool Care Program Offers Help

Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS) is now accepting applications for the Senior Cool Care program, sponsored by Dominion Energy.

Eligible individuals who need help cooling their homes will receive a single-room air-conditioner or a fan. A limited number of air-conditioners and fans are available.

To qualify for the program, individuals must be 60 years of age or older, live in the Rockbridge area, and have a monthly income of no more than $1,882 (single) or $2,556 (couple). Individuals who have central air-conditioning in their home will only be eligible to receive a fan.

The program runs from now through Oct. 31 while supplies last. Those interested in applying should call VPAS at (540) 261-747 or stop by the office located at 2137 Magnolia Ave. in Buena Vista.
