After 27 years of service to Rockbridge Area Community Services, Kathy Coale officially retired on May 2.
She started her journey with RACS in the RAISE Early Intervention Services department, using her skills and experience in therapeutic recreation, and quickly jumped in to adapt her skills to all things prevention just a short time later, said BreAnne Rogers, her former supervisor.
Coale devoted numerous years’ worth of hours providing prevention services to adolescents in the local school systems throughout her entire employment.
“Kathy has been a ‘constant’ in the ever-changing environment of prevention efforts over the years,” stated Rogers, “selflessly offering her profound wisdom to the community at large.”
Kathy has educated numerous youth among multiple schools and school systems in a variety of capacities.
“We are thankful to have had Kathy dedicate her time to our agency and be a part of the prevention team,” said Jenna Cline, the RACS prevention manager.
Kim Shaw, RACS executive director, added, “Kathy has been a staple, not only of the prevention unit but of the RACS family, for almost three decades. In addition to being a wealth of knowledge, she is so kind and brings a calming presence to any room she enters. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with and get to know Kathy over the last several years. Godspeed in her future endeavors!”
Coale plans enjoy this new chapter with her family, friends, and doing the things she enjoys most.
