Eugene Leonard Frey of Raphine was called home on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023.

He was born July 5, 1936, to the late Thomas Crawford and Edna Elizabeth Brownfield Frey in Fayette County, Pa.

He grew up in Ronco, Pa., and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and adventure. Eugene was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a member of St. John’s Evangelist Church in Waynesboro.

After graduating from German Township High School in 1954, Eugene became employed by Owens-Illinois in Bridgeton, N.J. It was there that he met the love of his life, Angeline, and the two married on Feb. 11, 1956. Most of his career was with Owens-Illinois, which eventually was purchased by Georgia-Pacific. Eugene’s career was a span of 37 years both in and outside of the country.

Eugene is survived by his wife Angeline Frey; daughter Kimberly Loy (Ron); son Eugene Frey (Lyssa); grandchildren Brandi Heiston (Michael), Bryan Loy (Lindsey), Tyler Frey and Eric Frey; and three great-grandchildren, Violet Mae Heiston, Addie Elizabeth Loy and Teagan James Loy. In addition, Eugene is also survived by three sisters, Harriett Thon, Ina-Belle Corcoran (Steve), and Nancy Dean (Jimmy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved German Shepherd Angel.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by brothers William Frey and Charles (Kenny) Frey; sister Betty Dooley; brothers-in-law John Thon and Reds Dooley; and sister-in-law Phyllis Frey.

A funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church with Deacon Dave Kohut officiating. Burial followed at Mt.

Carmel Presbyterian Cemetery.
