If someone were to write a new edition of President Kennedy’s book, “Profiles in Courage,” it can be safe to assume that Sen. Tim Kaine and many current Senate Democrats would not be included.
The Constitution and immigration laws call for the president to ensure the safety of our nation’s borders. Clearly, the Biden administration is not doing that with over 10 million “illegal aliens” (legal term used in the nation’s laws) that have flooded into the country, along with another estimated two million “gottaways.”
This border crisis affects the entire country and now all states are impacted. The crisis began when the Biden administration, on the first day in office, ended immigration policies implemented by the previous administration. Illegal aliens by the thousands began to pour across the border.
The Border Patrol, instead of guarding our borders became clerks trying to process the thousands and babysitters to the children, many unaccompanied by an adult.
The Biden administration stopped all construction on the border wall. Contractors hired to build the wall got paid over $2.8 billion for work contracted but canceled. The government then paid people $3 million a day to guard the unused materials until they were finally sold off for pennies on the dollar. This Biden policy cost the taxpayers unknown billions of dollars!
At first most of the illegal migrants were coming from Mexico and Central America but soon they began coming from Asia, Europe and Africa, including countries hostile to the United States. In just the last year, some 50,000 unvetted, primarily military-aged, males from Communist China have entered the country.
Venezuela’s dictator emptied the prisons, releasing gang members, including convicted murderers, along with mental institution patients, to join MS13 gang members entering our country with only the slightest of vetting.
At first the migrants were considered only a problem on the southern border but when border states found their hospitals, schools, social services and jails packed with illegal aliens, they began busing the migrants to so-called liberal “sanctuary cities” like Martha’s Vineyard, which quickly decided they were not really a “sanctuary city!”
Big cities of the north were the location of choice for many of the migrants and soon big cities were overwhelmed and services from lodging to education and health care caused them to send migrants elsewhere - including to Virginia.
As if this migration to the border was not enough, the Biden administration secretly began to fly in hundreds from Nicaragua, Venezuela and Haiti, primarily to locations in Florida.
The House of Representatives, after many hearings passed a comprehensive immigration law (HR2) that would end illegal migration and reform the immigration laws. It was sent to the Senate over a year ago but Democrat Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will not let it even have any hearings.
Instead, the Senate Democrats put together a different immigration bill, but if passed it would make Biden’s illegal open border policy the law of the land. Democrats called the bill the “bipartisan immigration reform act” (hardly bipartisan when only four Republicans supported it!). It failed to pass the Senate with even Democrats voting against it, noting the bill authorized up to 5,000 illegal migrants to come into the country daily and more money for the Border Patrol, not to stop illegals, but for more people to process them faster!
The House held hearings and voted to impeach the head of the Homeland Security for not enforcing federal immigration laws and lying to Congress. When the House presented the articles of impeachment to the Senate to vote on whether to convict the individual, the Senate totally failed to act - no debate, no hearings, nothing! In short, the Democrat majority decided to ignore the violation of law by the Biden administration and the Homeland Security Secretary.
Recently there were three cases of illegal aliens attempting to get into secure military installations and the FBI director is saying America is more subject to a major terrorist attack than any time since 9-11.
Why has the administration been allowed to ignore the law and put our country at risk? Why has Senator Kaine and most Senate Democrats done nothing in spite of overwhelming polls showing the public strongly oppose the open border policies? Questions for your consideration.
